So, I have been teaching English in Osaka for about 10 years. I have been with the same Eikaiwa for most of that time. I like it and I like my students but I’m also in my 40s and starting to burn out. The pay is joking bad and my Japanese isn’t progressing. Although I like the job I’m thinking that come spring it’s probably time to move on. What kinds of jobs would you recommend? I’m thinking about leaving English teaching. I can have conversations in Japanese but writing and reading are pretty bad. Almost 10 years at the same company and I get along really well with my boss and staff. I consider myself to be a pretty patient and kind person but maybe not the smartest. Lol. Also I’m in pretty good shape. I have a spouse visa and will probably apply for P.R. In the next year or so.
What would you recommend? What kind of jobs do you do? Do you enjoy them? Are there other things I should consider before moving on? What are your thoughts?
