I'm planning to visit Japan next year, first time there. I'll be traveling for 4 to 6 weeks. I've mostly narrowed down what time of year I'd like to go, but I'm now stuck between 2 choices. I'm hoping to get some recommendations/advice/suggestions to help me do the final selection.
My choices currently are:
- Starting mid-May to mid-/end-June (I know the blossoms will be over, I'm good with it)
- Starting mid-/end-August to end of September.
My (still vague) plans includes the area covered by Tokyo-Kobe-Kanazawa/Noto (note this is a general bounding box). If I'm able to do 6 weeks, I might expend toward the south-west. I've got about a week planned for Tokyo and Osaka each (I'll be sure to stop by the World Fair).
Here's why I'm mostly indecisive:
I am very interested in experiencing the firework/shrine festival you see in animes during summer time, or something very similar.
However, I do not fair all that well in hot/humid weather, I sweat and get hot very easily. If it help to have an idea, I'm from Montreal (Canada), we get hot/humid combo every summer. But whenever it gets above 28-30C with 50+% humidity, I'm having a hard time. And 35C/60+% is where I have a hard time doing anything.
Any help/recommendations ?
I'm still quite flexible on things. If someone knows of such event during the first period, I'd be very interested (even if it means moving the time window around).
edit: I fare much better in hot weather if it's dry.
