I have noticed in Japanese film and TV, the tough guys such as modern yakuza or old timey bandits pronounce huge amounts of rolling "R" sounds particularly when yelling or cursing, which I never hear in other types of speaking, nor from other non-tough characters. However, I don't understand any Japanese so I can't tell if the words being used are different, or if just the pronunciation is different or something. So I have two questions:
1- where do the "R"s come from (different words, or different pronunciation of normal words?)
2- Is this only done in film by actors, or do real tough guys speak this way in real life?
