I had an accident a few years ago, and after rigorously fighting with the insurance company and hiring a lawyer, my settlement is finally near. I’m expecting to receive around 7 to 8 million yen. My lawyer mentioned that I don’t need to pay any taxes on that amount, so I want to send the money back to my home country. When I asked Mizuho Bank about it, they said they wouldn’t allow me to transfer such a large amount without a valid reason and lot of paperwork. I’m considering using WISE to transfer the money through my MUFG account. Are there any precautions or things I should be aware of before doing this?
