Leasehold (Old Contract) vs Freehold in Tokyo – Is it worth looking at Leasehold properties under the old contract?

I understood that leasehold properties basically is almost like ‘rental properties’.

So… recently I come across a unit that I really like which unfortunately falls under Leasehold category, but the agent told me that this is under the Old contract where the  ‘tenants’ can renew without land owner’s consent automatically. And in this case, the agent shared the land owner allows renewal at no charge.

Do you think this property is then worth looking at?

I wonder if the lease might change if the land owner sells away the land to a new owner.
