hot water turning off mid-shower or not turning on at all. hot water works fine in the sinks…

hello everyone. im wondering if anyone else has had this issue in their showers. this issue seems to only occur in the summer, but it has gotten much worse as of lately. the shower appears to be struggling to get hot unless the handle is turned almost all the way to the left (only one handle that turns left/right to adjust temps). when this happens, the water is nearly scalding. i can't really stand under the water as the heat is just unbearable. trying to adjust the temp even a little results in the hot water shutting off completely.

we recently switched gas companies and the gas guy told us that it could be a pressure issue (the pressure is pretty low but not terrible) and that a new shower head could fix it. our old shower head was pretty old so we ordered a new one online and installed it yesterday. not only did this not fix the hot water issue or improve the pressure, it made both WORSE. does anyone have any experience with this? has anyone been able to fix it on their own? im not opposed to calling the gas company/apartment management, but id like to try fixing it myself first.

thank you!

edit: i have a hot water panel (not sure the brand but i think it's norlitz?) and during the summer, i set the temps to 37c. during winter or cooler months, i set the temperature between 40c and 43c. im wondering if this could be causing the issues as i only experience these problems in the summer when i set the panel to a lower temp.
