I'm solo travelling Japan next year for 30-40 days, I'm worried that I won't meet or chat to people and being away for so long could be lonely. I'm very sociable and do enjoy meeting new people, I just know that travelling Japan won't be like travelling South East Asia – where you can literally pull up a chair on a table in your hostel and you've got friends for the next 2/3 days.
What are the hostels like in terms of socialising with people?
Will locals be happy to chat with you in bars / coffee shops?
