Looking for next Kanji Textbook Advice

Hi everyone

I’m getting close to taking the N3 (good luck for everyone for the end of the year). I have been studying using ‘Kanji Look and Learn’ [https://www.amazon.com.au/Kanji-Look-and-Learn/dp/4789013499](https://www.amazon.com.au/Kanji-Look-and-Learn/dp/4789013499), which worked really well for me and has been a good way to learn. I initially liked the pictures, but these days mainly just like that it provides vocabulary with the Kanji. I usually put the Kanji learned straight into Anki and have had good success memorising them.

While Kanji is not my top priority, it is time for me to get a new book. i have only 3 lessons to go with Kanji Look and Learn, and to be honest will look to upskill my Kanji before I take the N3 in December. Looking further than that though, I am hoping for a book for the intermediate levels that can help take me towards the N2 whenever that happens.

Currently using: Quartet 1 (with a teacher), N3 2000 essential vocabulary, Kanzen Master Bunpo, Anki (everyday study), Migii (N3 test practice)

Note: After finishing the N3 I’m thinking of transitioning into using Tobira gateway to advanced but am undecided. I appreciate any and all advice!

  1. You don’t need another book. Finish the one you already have, and then continue with kanji by learning vocabulary and you will internalize the kanji contained in those words as an extension of that.

  2. IIRC Tobira covers topics that are mostly at the N3 level. So if you pass the N3 you might be beyond that.
