Any tips for getting through work days when you’re not doing the best mentally?

It feels like this is a particularly difficult thing in Japanese offices. I understand that people want to talk (and I understand there isn't any malice) but it seems as though people generally don't seem to catch cues that indicate I don't particularly feel like talking. Cues that would have worked back in my home country (US).

Last time I mentioned something going on and they immediately within 5 seconds told another teacher when they asked what was wrong. In front of me. Because of that incident I don't really feel comfortable opening up to anything here. (The problem is not work related)

Is this simply a cultural difference? Are there no private conversations or privacy in general in Japanese offices? If that is the case, what are some ways I can attempt to isolate myself even just a little on days when I'm under the weather? I don't want to come across as rude. It's just one of those days. Usually that didn't require further explanation in the past but it seems like it's insufficient here, so I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Also, wasn't sure where to put this, but how the hell am I supposed to respond to "daijoubu?" I always just say it's fine even when that obviously is not the case. But then I risk getting pressed because of my face that suggests I'm not actually okay, and it just becomes really awkward.

Is there a way to convey "I'm not in the mood to talk. Please don't talk to me, thanks" that I could use and isn't considered rude? Or am I just supposed to suck it up with the "daijoubu" every time.
