Please Help! How to Get my Residency Card ASAP?

Hello All,
I arrived the Japan on the 4th of September in Okinawa and spent a few days there before flying to Chūbu airport because the study-abroad program that I will be at for 4 months is in Nagoya. To be honest I had no idea what a residency card was, which I should have done more research before flying in I know, but my Univeristy clearly assumed I would be flying directly to Chubu where they would have directly issued me the residency card. As I did not do this and instead entered through Okinawa, the immigration officer explained to me (in a bit of a confusing manner) that I have to go to a municipal office within 14 days to get my residency card and then have it mailed to me. The thing is, I move into my apartment for school on the 10th, I don’t know my unit number or anything like that yet just the general address. I also don’t know how long until I’ll have access to a mailbox. What steps should I take to make sure I get my residency card properly and in time? Thank you! I’m super overwhelmed and honestly hope someone out there can help.

TLDR; How to get a residency card when studying abroad NOT at the airport?
