I have been in a language school for six months (N4/N5) to learn Japanese. My goal was to get insight into Japanese culture and try to find a job here. I have studied other languages before but find Nihongo the most difficult… I was ready to give up and go back to work in the EU (I am a chef).
A small business owner (who is also a foreigner) offered me a job at his place and is willing to sponsor my visa. I am doubtful it gets approved because the business is newly opened and have only a handful of employees. From what I know, mostly "big" companies have the clout to sponsor work visas..? (I could be wrong.) What's more, he doesn't require Japanese, as the main work language is English. Which is great for me, but I'm not sure if Nihongo is a requirement to have a work visa(?).
I do have a 4 year Bachelor's Degree which I finished in 3.5 years (cause I did advanced units). I also have 10 years work experience in the hospitality industry, but doing different roles.
My school isn't the most supportive answering questions like these… They would just tell me to continue to stay in school for the next 1-2 years, which is smth I don't want to do.
