what’s it like being married to a Japanese who only speaks Japanese?

I've been reading too many posts here about international-Japanese couples, where the Japanese partner speaks only Japanese. how are these marriages sustained????

edit to add: Most of them seem to be Western men who CAN'T speak Japanese, married to Japanese women.
