Registered vs unregistered digital suica card with Shinkansen

I’m getting ready for my travel and have successfully configured and loaded an unregistered suica card (my name isn’t assigned to it) on my iPhone.

I also have successfully bought, on Smartex, my Shinkansen tickets.

Also, by looking up my suica card number on the suica app, I’ve linked both, so as to use my phone as a Shinkansen ticket.

I’m aware that the only way to know for certain if this worked out is to try it at the gates, but was wondering if any of you guys have done the same as me and have it work?

I have seen guides for this, but they seem to mention only the registered digital suicas (the ones where you assign your name on the registration screen).
