MEIKO KIDS E

Hi guys! I have an interview with Meiko Kids next week and I can’t find any helpful reviews about them. The only thing I know is, they are part of Meiko Gijuku which is one of the biggest Juku companies in Japan. Meiko Kids is like their first venture on English after schools. I hope someone could help me. Thanks!

  1. If it’s new, it’s not going to have a reputation yet. Expect the worst; hope for … not horrible. And watch out for the usual red flags: illegal stipulations in the contract; no set schedule; no set curriculum; low pay; big classes; managers whose only qualification is “Speaks English”.

That’s about all you can do.

  2. Meiko Kids looks like an after-school care facility, only tangentially to do with education.

Go with what u/CompleteGuest854 said and your gut.

Hope it’s a fun first experience.

  3. I work for a branch of Meiko, and my experience completely changed based on the head teacher. The company’s main message is teaching kids how to study rather than forcing information down their throats, which I agree with. My former head teacher however, tried to do that. He also pressured several teachers to the point of mental breakdown. The current head teacher is fantastic.
The best advice I can give is to watch how they interact with the students. The company itself is pretty good, but keep an eye out for overzealous employees.

  4. The website describes the company-run program as afterschool care.

The job is essentially the equivalent of a day camp counselor. The requirements for that in most places are a background check, first aid training, and a high school diploma.

It looks like a part-time job for spending money, not a living wage.

    Is that what you’re after?
