So I've been seeing a lot of advertisements recently about American comedians who come and perform in Tokyo. Most recently for Jeff Arcuri and Atsuko Okatsuka. I am a big stand up fan, and would love to see my favorites live, but I'm a bit wary of the vibe/ crowd work in Japan. My assumption is that jokes may just not land as well with a Japanese audience, and the mood would be pretty damp…?
Has anyone been to a western style stand up show (performed in English) in Japan? Is the crowd receptive to the material? Would you go again?
