Mobile-friendly apps or websites for reading practice?

With two young kids and a very busy work life, I’ve been finding it difficult to set aside dedicated Japanese reading time. However, my phone is a lot more accessible, like when I’m rocking the baby to sleep in the middle of the night. So, I’ve been looking for some kind of mobile resource I can use for reading practice; ideally one where definitions or translations can be accessed in the same window.

Everything I’ve tried so far is either anki/flashcards, which isn’t useful in building comprehension for larger ideas, or is pure Japanese with no supplemental resources easily available. Something like tadoku would be great, with its digestible readers, but the site is not at all mobile friendly which makes the reading experience difficult.

Am I looking for a unicorn? Or is there a great resource I don’t know about? Thanks in advance for the recommendations!

  1. Google play books is an epub reader, and it’s easy to highlight and translate words. I personally find it super useful and convenient.
