Hello everyone! My husband, our 9-month-old son, and I are going to Japan in October, and we are considering a 1-day trip from Kyoto. We've been reading about small towns in the surrounding area, and I've come across the names Ohara, Kibune, and Kurama. After reading more, we’ve seen that all three are beautiful and that, in any case, we won’t go wrong. However, I’d like to ask which one you would recommend visiting. We know that Kibune and Kurama are often visited together and that, although Kibune is fairly flat, getting to Kurama-dera is quite difficult because the trekking route involves steep climbs (which would be challenging with a baby in tow). However, we’ve seen that there are buses/trains between these towns, and that there is a cable car to get up to Kurama-dera, making the walk from there much easier and shorter (about 15 minutes). We’ve also read that Kurama has famous onsens.
To sum up, the questions we’d like to ask are:
1. Is it better to visit Ohara or Kibune and Kurama?
2. What’s more comfortable to do with a 9-and-a-half-month-old baby?
3. Are the Kurama onsens open? (I had read they were temporarily closed, is that true?)
Thank you very much in advance!!!
