My boyfriend and I are planning a 2 week (mostly ski oriented) trip to Japan in January 2025. Below is my proposed itinerary with bookings already made and advice!
Arrive NRT 3:50 on 1/18 and depart for CTS on peach airlines at 6. This is definitely a tight turn around and I bought changeable/refundable tickets through peach in case our flight if delayed/were stuck in customs.
Rented RV from arigato campervan rental who will be picking us up from the airport.
For parking I’ve reserved all our nights at RV park Kutchan near the niseko area so if we want to stay there the whole time we can. I was worried about places to park across Hokkaido so I have this booked as a backup, they do not have cancellation fees and were very easy to reserve and you don’t pay unless you show up and use the spot.
The point of reserving the RV is really so we can powder chase. Not sure if lift tickets in niseko sell out? Anyone have experience with this or can we buy day before or day of?
Returning on the 24th and flying to HND. From HND I would like to ship our ski gear to our next hotel in nowaza onsen but worried it will arrive too late for our check in on the 25th. Anyone have experience with this?
We’re spending the night at shibuya stream hotel. Want to shop around, go to dinner in Tokyo but not big city people so one night is great. The morning of the 25th I’m considering going to the fish market and then train to nozawa onsen.
Staying in nozawa onsen until the 30th and then that evening we are planning to go to Kyoto. Booked Dhawa Yura Kyoto hotel. Will spend the day of the 31st and then on the 1st we will take the train directly to narita to fly out that night.
Can we ship our ski bags from NO to narita? So we don’t have to bring to Kyoto?
Any advice or recommendations would be great! On my list to do:
- International driving permit for our RV rental
- Reservations in Tokyo/kyoto and maybe NO.
- e sim or mobile wifi. Which one?
- digital siuca cards/get yen
