It’s probably gonna be rainy due to the incoming typhoon, but Osu is generally the place to wander around in Nagoya. That or Sakae.
Go home
Go to Ossu and eat some good international food
Nagoya local here. Get off at Osu Kannon station (Tsurumai line) and check out the Osu district for starters. It’s a covered shotengai so you’ll be fine even if it rains. There’s a nice little garden thingy close by called the Hisaya Odori Garden Flarie if you’re into flowers and ponds and shyte.
Walk over from either of these places to Sakae and head towards the science museum and planetarium to have a look around. They’re all in the same area, 10-15 minutes by foot.
For food, I’d recommend miso katsu or miso nikomi. Nagoya is best known for it’s red miso paste. Personally, I don’t like it but it’s local so why not? There’s a famous shop called Yabaton in Osu but it’s a Sunday so there’ll definitely be an idiotic line in front of it. There’s a fair few miso nikomi places around Sakae that will pop up if you google it.
While walking around in Osu get some Lee san’s Karaage. It’s pretty popular here and absolutely delicious.
That’s pretty much the city centre. There are a lot of beautiful temples in lesser known places but I’m assuming the city centre will do if you only have a day to stroll around.
Oh, if you have the time check out Atsuta Jingu. It’s not that far.

I wouldn’t plan on going out much. Typhoon rain may put a damper on any plans you try to make.
I stopped there to go to the Science Museum. Enjoyed it. Largest science museum in Japan
Nagoya City Science Museum
