I'm researching my options to pull cash if needed in Japan. Everyones says the 7-11 ATM is the best option. So I looked at their website and found the "How to use ATM" page. It clearly shows a "4% conversion fee included" listing. Link to the page HERE (look at their "screen shots" of the ATM on the right)
I looked at GPA to see what their posted exchange rates were and if my math is correct, it looks to be 1.5%. (actual rate 148.75, airport rate 145.72. So about a 1.5% ~ difference.) See link HERE
So based on that info – GPA would save me the 220 yen ATM fee that 7-11 charges, plus 3.5%, correct? (if I carred my own US dollars…I understand that)
I can't find any mention of the 7-11 conversion fee anywhere else except their own screen shot. Has anyone else seen this on their receipts and can confirm they take a 4% cut?.
