Hello, traveling next week, family of 5. My understanding is that Japan requires visitors to have their passports on them, but I wanted to check whether having photographs/scans of our passports could be acceptable? I am a bit wary of having to walk around for 14 days with 5 passports on me and risk losing them.
Are the police really on the lookout for families of obvious tourists with kids in the off chance they might be flouting immigration rules?
