Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I’m a dual national, British-Japanese (born in the UK to a British father and Japanese mother) and my wife is Japanese. We recently had a child born in Japan and we’re looking to register their birth in the UK before applying for their first passport.
We have no issue collecting all the supporting documents required to register our child’s birth in the UK. However, our issue is that I have two passports with different names and live in Japan as a Japanese national. So, the name on my British passport and birth certificates do not match the name on my Japanese family register, Japanese marriage certificate and child’s shussetodoke kisajiko shomeisho (birth certificate) , which are all probably required as supporting documents.
My question is what additional steps and or documents are required for the birth registration process to go smoothly. Also, will there be any legal issues we might face which will make the UK Home Office reject our application?

This is another thing to add to a list of why giving your kids two legal names is a bad idea…
This is s tricky one and is best resolved by contacting HMRC directly. The shussetodoke is required, and as you’re aware is going to super problematic when on said shussetodoke the father Taro Tanaka is trying to registered their child’s birth to the UK using John Smith’s UK birth certificate as proof of the child’s inheritance of UK citizenship.
