how to use internet in America when you go back to visit?

So im asking mostly to Americans because thats where i am from. What do you do to have data when you get back to America? I am going to be back in the states for the xmas holiday and would not have to simply rely on wifi hotspots etc. Are there any sim for expats traveling for a short vacation to use data on the go? something simple…

any insight in this would be good.

  1. I know that when I had T-Mobile and Sprint, there was a reciprocal plan option that allowed unlimited data in Japan on SoftBank networks since SoftBank had once owned Sprint.

SoftBank allows data usage in America on T-Mobile’s network but I don’t know if it’s unlimited or not.

Basically — I just use my carrier’s international roaming plans when not connected to a hotspot

  2. If you have ahamo, you have like 2 weeks of roaming included. If you use softbank, they have the america hodai thing, but you need to enable that in your account ahead of time.

Otherwise, get a tourist sim/esim. Plenty of cheap choices, even stuff you can buy on amazon.jp before leaving.

  3. Not an American, but when I go for business trips to the US, I buy a travel SIM on Amazon. There’s a huge selection of them.

  4. The cheapest way is to buy a sim card from a reputable vendor on Amazon and ship it to where you’re staying in advance

  5. I go to metro pcs and just get unlimited calls, text and data for like $50 for a month and its so usefull because they use the tmobile cell towers. Dont even have to sign up for a contract just go month to month. But last time i went to the US was in may 2021. Prices may have gone up.
