Back in August/September 2021 I had started learning Japanese and had been fairly consistent throughout however come September this year I started my first year in college and have poured most of my attention into that as opposed to my Japanese. How should I go about balancing the two or should I just put Japanese on hold? Just curious on what people’s input would be.

It’s really about what you want. What’s driving you to learn Japanese? Are you studying it and finding it to be a chore?
I’m sure you’ve already done this, but why not see if you can study Japanese through a course at college — assuming it’s offered.
It all comes down to what you want. Follow that.
if you have time to do both do both
if you have to pick one do college
If you can take Japanese as a course, take Japanese with your courses
