So I recently got caught going 31 over the speed limit and got a notice for a course I have to take in order to reduce the suspension. The thing is, it happened at a really weird time. It was just at the end of my JET position and I was moving to a new position anyway, where I no longer have or need a car. Due to reasons, by the time I was able to finally schedule my course, it was well after the 30-day suspension. In addition to all that, the course location is over an hour away and I have to use nenkyuu since they’re not open on weekends. My question is basically this: Is this a course I have to take if the 30 days are already up? As I mentioned, I don’t have a car anymore anyway since I live in Fukuoka now. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Tl;dr – Do I have to take the suspension reduction course if it’s already past the 30-day suspension?

If you’ve moved, you have to update your details and change your address on your license anyway. When you go in to do that, they’ll get the details that will say your license was suspended and you no-showed your lecture.
If your license was reinstated without having to attend the lecture, then no one would ever go to them.
Jeezus, 31kmh over the limit. Hope it’s not a school area.

No, you don’t. The course is optional, and you already served the suspension.
Just be aware that you now only have 4 points to play with until you go a full year with no violations.
