Did a research paper on this a while back. We found that by following Bumbles profile suggestions and putting in the effort of making a good profile, the average looking guy with regular pictures got 10-20 hits a day. The muscular guy with a few more whole body (showing his fashion, with clothes!!!!) got over 50 hits a day. The less than average guy with just a selfie or ‘Japan-themed’ pictures was lucky to get 2-5 hits a day. These figures more than double in the first few days when Bumble increases new profile visibility. So put in the effort, show who you really are (in the profile and the pictures) and it should help get more hits.
I’m a 6ft1 white guy with blue eyes, so probably more than you.

Back when I was single and studying in japan (2018), I had a tinder and bumble profile. I’d get about 6-8 likes a day on tinder and 2-4 likes a day on bumble. Daily total average about 8-12 likes . Out of those likes, 2-3 would talk/initiate conversation. I’d initiate conversation with the remaining likes. The remaining likes I initiated, about 1 or 2 would respond and the rest would either ghost me and not delete me or unmatch me.
Before I met my current husband, if j had to guess I probably had a total of 250+ matches, 70 ish conversations, but only 12 made it to dates (I remember the guys). 2 became serious , but 1 (tinder) ended due to schedule issues, and the other (bumble) I married 4 years later in 2022.
Edit to add: I signed into the app once or twice a day to respond to messages and swipe a few times, so the match ratio was probably higher but didn’t take the time or effort lol
Got quite a few the first few days, maybe 5 to 10 the first days, and maybe half or less eventually contact you. Once I got through most profiles and passed the first week or so… 0 to 3 a week. 31m at the time I used it.
I have given up. In the 2 years in my shity little area Very few matches(never Japanese mainly other nationalities) and never had a promising conversation or even a long one. Needless to say never went ahead with a date so it’s been sad and brutal. So yeah it’s a dead end for me.
Black, tall and swole. Used to get a lot back in the day when tinder first came out and….on skout.
But talking to single friends, it seems they really fuck with the algorithm so you won’t get much unless you’re subscribed to the most expensive tier or your account is fresh.
Mid 30s heterosexual male on date mode. Sometimes I delete my profile and make a new one depending on my “mood” :
With my normal profile I get 20+ matches on a regular day, 40+ when I open it after not having used in a long while or when traveling. About 80% of matches initiate a chat (most do it close to the deadline).
With my pee-fetish profile (yes, you read that right) I get 0~5 matches a day (varies wildly) and about half initiate a chat, usually just out of curiosity or to make some joke – which is OK, I like the jokes.
