Confusion

Hi all, self taught here still at the basics, I was wondering what the difference between に and 似. I get that one is hiragana and one is katakana, however when would each be used?

My example sentence is 私は学校似行きます or
私は学校に行きます

Also upon writing these out i’ve noticed that the い in いきますchanged too! it has 行 instead of い.

I’ve only just got my head around using は after 私 instead of わ!

Anyways thankyou for any replies, i’m learning chinese and japanese at the same time so any tips for memorising are appreciated!

  1. First off, 似 is a kanji, not katakana.

Second, you would definitely use に in that sentence. It is the particle, so it’s written in hiragana.

I think you should take some time to familiarize yourself with the writing system a little bit more, particularly with what kanji are and how they work.

  2. You should think of each kanji as a word or entity that encompasses a full meaning. You won’t be using kanji as particles, so that should help with some of the confusion.
