Hi all,
I’ve been planning a trip to Japan for summer 2022 that includes Yoronjima as a one or two night stay. I’m trying to figure out the logistics of getting there if I was starting out in Kagoshima or any other southern prefecture.
Has anyone been there or know an optimal way to get there and back? I’m trying to go to relax, saw some pictures of the sandbar there and was floored. Thanks a bunch!

The optimal way would be to fly directly from Kagoshima. Unfortunately, that’s a single flight a day. Otherwise you’d probably take a flight with a layover in Amami Oshima, or a ferry (20 hours). There was (before pandemic) a flight to Yoronjima from Naha Airport, but it seems to be suspended.
You can also technically take a flight to Naha, bus to Motobu Port and a ferry from there, but this will take 8+ hours and have the same effect as taking a ferry from Kagoshima.
