How do i get rid of the alphanumeric for japanese on desktop? It always defaults to that, real annoying and I don’t see any way to disable it

1. I don’t know about turning it off, but you can quickly switch between hiragana and alphanumeric with alt + tilde

2. You don’t (as in: neither Google’s nor Microsoft’s IME allow it). The point is to disable the English layout and just use the IME for both Japanese and English languages.
