In a corpus of spontaneous spoken Japanese, the frequency of はい is 18554, but the frequency of いいえ…

More literally, it means something along the lines of As for school, it’s a day off/break.
the first means the its the rest day of the school and the second will mean the school is literally closed so just take it as it is and also its not a very good habit to translate word for word anyways
