Hey people,
I am a Flight Attendant and will have my first Tokyo layover in many years. As I have wandered around the city before, I would love to explore different places, especially since it will be a relatively long stay (arrival 7/11, departure 10/11). I would have loved to hike Mount Fuji but as our hotel is in Narita, I saw that travel options are limited to only two busses per day with the first one arriving past noon, and they are quite costly.
Do you guys have any other interesting recommendations that are easier to reach? Would like to avoid spending a night at a different place. I am a passionate hiker and have interest in architecture, food or generally special/mysterious places.

From JR Narita station via Narita line there are Sawara, Katori, Kashima, and Choshi. But you could probably visit Central Tokyo in the same time you need to reach those places.
There are Boso no Mura and National Museum of Japanese history, which are closer but still a bit far. I am assuming you have already visit Narita-san.
All above listed are all pretty minor places which might be nice but definitely not on any must go list.
It might be easier to buy the Tokyo Wide Pass and just use the express and Shinkansen for several day trips to major place tbh.
