Deer are fucking scary. I know it’s gotta be tough, but they say to not swerve in order to avoid a deer hitting you.
This was a constant fear back where I came from before moving to Japan, but haven’t thought about the deer menace in about a decade. This, however, is breathing new life into the phobia.
If this was in Nara I swea— nevermind. It was in Hokkaido.
Oh deer.
Just sad and terrible. Wasn’t surprised to find out this was in Hokkaido though.
A few years back when we were driving around the Akan-Mashu/Kushiro area, we had to screech to a halt after a deer flew out of the woods and right into the road we were driving on. Stopped and missed hitting it, only for us to end up running into the NEXT deer that moved so quickly right in front of the moving car. Deer went down but got back up just as quickly then dashed tf outta there, leaving us shookt and the car slightly dented.
I live in Sapporo ….yep had a couple of almost accidents with deer….
Drove 2 hours back to niseko from Chitose airport last Sunday night from 9 pm, lost count at about 23 deer right on the side of the road, some could reach out and touch from passenger window
oh deer…
I almost hit a tanuki at night once. I’d never have forgiven myself if I had.
I’ve also seen deer, cats, maybe a rabbit, and monkeys on the road.
