  1. ? My maiden last name is in my husband’s koseki tohon and I have had no issues with this at all.

  2. I’m preparing to move back to Japan, but my husband and I are both American citizens. We are legally married but have different last names because I didn’t change mine (and his is very difficult to read and say in both English and Japanese). I always wonder if it’ll be a problem and if we should preemptively change our names here so they’re the same. Laws like this make things so confusing.
