Current deals on order suits and shirts + resizing tailor recommendation

Any good order shirt / suit deals; good resizing tailor recommendations?

For Christmas, I’ve been asked to pick out some clothing for myself. I’m too tall/large/gross for 99% of off the rack suits, so I’ve long just gotten everything made to order while abroad. I’ve got no time to travel this year, so it’s time to look around locally.

Similarly, I’ve had suits made for my boys who have filled out a bit since college, and need a little bit everywhere “let out.” Looking at local shops, it seems like the charges would be more than a new suit. That being said, the suits are dapper, and filled with good memories, so if I need to pay a bit to preserve the look, sure – but who to trust?

Help appreciated. In the “pick two” triangle, I’d opt for less expensive and a long wait.

I’ll be checking out a boring but competent place offered as a benefit through my insurance provider; if it works out, I’ll post about that experience.

  1. It can be hard to “let out” a suit if there’s not enough excess fabric in the right places.

No one can offer you a “local” place because we don’t know where you are.
You can order a suit through Grand-Back (it’s a chain, so you’re likely to find one somewhere near you) and they may do alterations for suits not purchased through them as well. I’ve had a suit made through them before and it was pretty good for an “average” price for semi-order suit. Even took care of a few extra alterations after the first delivery. I know they send them out to another company, and it may change based on region, but customer service was surprisingly good when I went and the guy who measured me seemed knowledgeable. Your local location may be different, but worth checking out, I’d say.

You can also order stuff through [fabric-tokyo.com](https://fabric-tokyo.com) or something. Probably best to contact them through email if you want to confirm anything or ask for measurements not available through their standard process. I also haven’t ordered through them for years, so can’t say how the whole process is now though. But online orders can be good if you don’t want to bother going for fittings. [tailorstore.com](https://tailorstore.com) is another “international” option that’s pretty cheap. Fabric quality overall is “okay” but not great. They have a 100% fit guarantee which I’ve used hassle free before.
