Paperwork to move and exot region

i was working for a crooked languaged company, that made us travel hours one way to two different language schools a day. They “gave us” apartments. But paperwork and items of mine went missing. I recieved a new job and am filling out the paper work to turn jnto to government. I need to know the current companies corporate number. To submit notice of leaving said prefecture. How do I find this.

On another note, I am just filling out termination of contract organization. What other paperwork do I need to fill out/ submit to recieve the exit of ward, so I can move from Kanto region to Osaka?

  1. Here’s a useful move-out guide from MATCHA: https://matcha-jp.com/en/6820

Sorry to hear you’ve had to deal with a terrible company… hoping your new job is better!

You’ll need to file a “moving out” notification at your current town / city / ward hall and a “moving in” notification when you reach your new town. These need to be filed within 1-2 weeks of moving out / in. This is very important— when you declare your address at your new town hall, they will update the address on your residence card (usually written on the back).

I guess the “termination of contract organisation” is the letter to immigration to let them know you’re leaving a job? You’ll also need to send them a letter within 1-2 weeks of starting your new job (or you can send them both at the same time, if you’re leaving your old job and starting the new one within a few days of each other).

Make sure you also sort out mail forwarding, close down all your utility bills if your ex-employer isn’t handling that for you. You should also notify your local tax office that you’re moving, just in case. Be aware that you may still have to pay residence tax to your old town for the first few months in your new town (Japan taxes people for the previous year, so next year you might get bills from your old tax office. Just pay them as you usually would).

As for finding corporate number, try the NTA’s official corporate number website. I recommend searching in Japanese if you can.

If they don’t have a corporate number or you can’t find it, you may have to ask your old employer for it.

Good luck! Hope your move goes well!
