Any beautiful places where I can see the autumn leaves in Kansai?

My partner and I want to do a two day trip to somewhere in Kansai to enjoy the leaves and nature. I know Kyoto is amazing during autumn but I would prefer somewhere less crowded. Maybe with a nice Ryokan. Any recommendations?

  1. Unfortunately I can’t give you any suggestion regarding ryokan but Nara has some beautiful koyo spots. Muroji in Sakurai city is pretty famous for their fall leaves. Also Wakayama’s Koya-san, if you feel up to it.

  2. Let me indeed actually suggest Kyoto to you, butt don’t do the Basic Bitch sights (this will let you avoid throngs of foreign tourists, which is your goal).

Instead, plant your ass in the northeast quadrant of Kyoto, towards Ginkakuji. Then, the main temple you want to visit is Eikando. It is damn stunning in the autumn. Visit B-Level temples in that area. Get coffee at Cafe Mo-an.

Avoid the big temples and you should be fine.

  3. Minoo waterfall is a nice and ez hike with street food stalls along the way. Also osaka banpaku park. I always recommend these for travelers who like green stuff haha
