Are there fishing guide services in Japan that are friendly to foreigners? Google only shows a handful, less than 20 for all of japan and 95% of them are in the Tokyo bay area. I was hoping to go fishing during my trip for either squid, sea bream, tuna, salmon, char or trout and my trip would be in the fall time. Does anyone have any experience fishing around japan?

The problem with the fishing charters in Japan is that fishing of certain species (in particular tuna and hamachi) is severely limited by quotas imposed on local fishermen. Salmon fishing in sea beyond river estuaries is possible and there are outfits operating out of eastern Hokkaido (Abashiri to Nemuro area) that provide such services for both domestic and foreign tourists.
Salmon river fishing is prohibited except for a few designated locations, with limited number of licenses that have to apply well in advance.
As far as trout is concerned, there are operators on Kawaguchiko, Lake Motosu and on major lakes in Hokkaido – you just need to pick up local license and pay local taxes to appropriate co-operatives/fishermen associations.
Hi (⁎˃ᴗ˂⁎)
There is a [website](https://www.tptc.co.jp/en/c_park) in English where you can experience fishing in Tokyo.
Have a nice trip!(*´∇`*)
Hope you get an answer, I wanted to do the same in April.
There is a significant amount in Okinawa that mainly cater to the American military stationed there, although Okinawa is probably pretty out of the way from the rest of your trip. You could check around other American military bases.
