Hi, I need some help with my itinerary and mapping out some “side quests to make use of the JR pass which we have already purchased.
It will be my partners first time in Japan and I figured we will try to hit three major areas with the Kyoto being the home base to travel from as I got a very cheap place to stay.
November 30- land in Tokyo.
December 1-Tokyo-explore shinjuku and shibuya
December 2-Tokyo-fish market, explore ginza, possibly uego park and asakasa.
December 3- explore/shop
December 4- bullet train to Kyoto. Loose plans will probably not reserve a train until we decide when to leave.
-check in kyoto
December 5-explore, possibly Inari shrine as early as possible to avoid crowds
December 6- bike to bamboo forest
December 7th- it’s my partners birthday so any special recommendations would be appreciated
December 8th-miyajima
December 9th-13th is where I’m hitting a roadblock. I’m torn between visiting Osaka, Kanazawa, Hiroshima, Kobe or somewhere else. Ideally I would like to visit somewhere on the more relaxing and nature driven side of things.
I’m also happy to just stay in Kyoto and explore as much as possible.
December 13th bullet train back to Tokyo for a night time return flight.
I’ve been to Japan before and my itinerary was Tokyo-Kyoto-miyajima-Tokyo. I spent two weeks in Kyoto and could have spent more time without getting bored. I’m repeating a lot of the same places just because I think my partner would really love to see them.
Note: we are both major foodies. So any good recommendations would be extremely helpful. I want to check out the omurice guy in Kyoto. I have also been attempting to get a revervation at monks Kyoto but I think I am out of Luck
