First Time Renewing Zairyu Card.

Hi All,

Its my first tome renewing my Zairyu Card as a Spouse Visa Holder. May I ask some suggestions if it is wise to go there in the after like 1PM? Anybody has experiences going in the afternoon?

Edit: I was planning to go to the Immigration Office in Shingawa (neaeTennozu Isle)

Or should I go to a different location?

Thank you

  1. Your location would help. Wait times vary depending which immigration office you go to.

  2. I have been there right before 4pm at my local office every year for the past few years. It takes about 20 minutes to be called. I have been to the Tachikawa office in Tokyo twice, that place is packed.

  3. Took me 80 minutes from submitting my stuff to getting my new card at 2pm to 320 pm. Maybe about the same time in the morning when I submitted everything for review too from opening. But waiting in line blows. I’d suggest going at 10 am maybe.

  4. Last time I went around 1 PM. I was out of there around 2:30. You need to be lucky you don’t have too many “stallers” in front of you. It’s usually easy to pick them out, always there with either the entire family, a translator, both, or on the phone talking loudly. When you see one of those in line in front of you, you know they’re gonna make problems and will keep the clerk occupied for a long time.

  5. Wow, based on the replies in here it seems like wait times have been cut down a lot recently. Back when I was going there, if you didn’t arrive before it opened in the morning then you’d be waiting in line for hours and hours.

  6. Wait, with a spouse visa, you renew the zairyu card or the visa its self? Honest question!

  7. If you have a My Number Card and a lot of headache meds you can try to renew it online instead lol
