Anyone know if/where I could find a nativity set that wasn’t imported from somewhere else? I keep thinking I’d like to get one for my mom, but so far no dice.
You’ll probably be hard-pressed because Christianity has only ever been a small minority here, and not all of the European cultural elements that go along with it in other countries seem to have caught on.

Wants imported? You’re looking for a Japanese made nativity set?
How about this one:

But I did some digging since I got curious realizing I’d never actually seen a nativity set in any of the Protestant churches I’ve visited around Christmastime, thought maybe it’s more a Catholic thing here? and found [this Trappist convent in Saga prefecture](https://www.imari-trappistines.org/) that has apparently been making [these little nativities and figurines](https://www.imari-trappistines.org/%E4%BF%AE%E9%81%93%E9%99%A2%E3%81%AE%E8%A3%BD%E5%93%81/%E9%99%B6%E8%8A%B8%E4%BD%9C%E5%93%81/) in the local Imari/Arita ware tradition since the 1960s.
