Hey guys
about 2 months ago I arrived to Kanazawa University and got a decent room provided by the uni. It’s a bit old but still satisfactory for my needs. However, it surprised me how much dust gathers and how quick it happens every day. I come from a very clean household so I got used to cleaning and tidyness, I vacuum and wipe (duster and wet) almost everyday to keep it clean but the next day I wake up my shelves have a new layer of dust and so does my phone and laptop screens. Also annoying is putting on clothes in the morning seeing a bunch of dust flying off of it as if I didn’t enter the room for months is ruining my days before they begin..

I was wondering if anyone had this experience before and what I could do to help this. I do keep the door closed because of the hornets, but open it when I am at home. The toilet fan keeps on going and I use the dehumidifier as well. I was looking on Amazon to get an air purifier, because I’m a student my budget is not that high. I found some Air Purifiers that claim to deal with pollen, animal hairs, odor, etc etc. Would this help with my dust pile up on shelves and clothing?
I feel this cannot be healthy for me to live in a dusty envirnment.

Thanks

Why open the door? That’s probably bringing a lot more dust from the outside in than if you kept it closed.
Define ‘layer of dust’. Do you mean ‘more than 1 particle of dust’, or do you mean an actual layer?
Are you just letting in dust when you open the door? is the toilet fan dusty?
I have no advice to offer but I’ve found living in Tokyo that my apartment gets dustier way faster than it ever did in Canada.
If you can afford a good air purifier goes a long way

Well, there’s your problem. You’re allowing dust to enter (or allowing any breeze to kick up existing room dust), then at night you close your door, and that kicked up dust finally manages to settle all over your shit.
Keep your door closed and see what happens.
