Hello we are interested in visiting the Akita / Aomori during cherry blossom time. We would like to go from Kakunodate to Nyuto onsen area – which google says its about 1 hour drive. We really don’t want to rent a car so would we be able to get a taxi to take us or book a car service for this purpose ? Thank you in advance

You should have no problem with taxi. Also consider calling ryokan to ask if they have pickup service.
Should be no issue going up. Leaving the ryokan might be an issue if they dont have a pick up/drop off service.
Are you sure you want the taxi?
Looking at a taxi fare estimator the 45-60min trip by taxi will cost 15-20,000yen each way.
Taking the Akita Shinkansen from Kakunodate St to Tazawako St, then transfer to a Nyuto Line bus towards Kyukamura (and others) will take 75-90min and cost 2,200yen per person each way.
