I was wondering if anyone had information on whether Japanese taxis will take my family of 5 — 2 adults, 3 kids (1 is a small toddler that can be carried). I know taxis do not have the same regulation on car seats like passenger cars, but I cannot find information on whether 5 passengers would be allowed.
Thank you

My experience is 3 people fills up a normal Japanese taxi.
There are taxi vans that are more suitable for your grouping.
I’ve squeezed into a taxi in a group of five but we were younger, skinnier and didn’t have luggage. Are you going to travel with just one backpack for each?
It would be easier to book a larger taxi for six or just take two taxis.
