I see where UAA (Anchorage) has Japanese courses that use the Genki textbooks – would cost about 1000 bucks a semester – I live REALLY close – almost walking distance
Thinking I might learn more and enjoy it more in a class setting – I’m a little older (50) but I’m not there to pick up chicks, but learn Japanese – I’ll have a head start on the Hiragana and have the books
I wish there was a cheaper option online or some sort of class learning – anyone ever give up self-study and just start working with teachers? I’m sure my pronunciation will improve dramatically as well in an more immersive class taught in Japanese

getting a regular teacher on italki might be a similar price range. you can ask them to go through the genki book with you
