Hi all, I’m currently on a student visa working part-time (arubaito) in Japan. If we have shifts or work during national holidays, is the common practice to get the fixed standard hourly wages or are there any additional wages/salary associated with working during a national holiday?

It depends. Many places will have a little higher salary on holidays and weekends for part time work. Super markets, shops and restaurants usually do.
National holidays are non-statutory holidays, so it’s not necessary to pay any extra depending on various other factors, including the operating hours of the business and working hours.
What did your workplace say?
depends on the company desire ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
If you work after 10 pm then you get a 25% hourly wage increase. Otherwise, from my experience, holiday pay is the same
