im 16 and going to study alone in japan for a year and i’m from europe (so i use euros), i’m going to use a wise credit card that’s in the name of my dad. Question 1/ do they ask for an ID when you use a credit card in japan? Question 2/ Are there other good credit cards without too much transfer fee and that could be used by minors?
Any past experience is greatly appreciated.

You can link any country Visa/MasterCard to a Suica/Pasmo in Apple Wallet and use that to pay anywhere that doesn’t take foreign cards
They have those vanilla visa cards
Have you or your dad deposit money into a Charles Schwab savings account. Withdrawals are completely reimbursed in foreign countries. That’s the card I first used when I first traveled to Japan at the age of 17.
