Best and Comprehensive Beginner Books

I’ve been thinking of using the Quartet book series for intermediate learning, but I first need to start at the beginner or elementary level. I have the complete textbooks of Minna no Nihongo. Is that enough, or do you have some recommended books for beginners? N5-N4.

My learning plan would be:

Minna no Nihongo Beginner I

Minna no Nihongo Beginner II

Minna no Nihongo Intermediate I

Minna no Nihongo Intermediate II

Quartet Textbook I and Workbook I

Quartet Textbook II and Workbook II

Nihongo Sou-matome N3, N2, N1

  1. either minna no nihongo intermediate or quartet, both would be a “waste” as both series cover ~n3-n2, other than that this seems fine

  2. Genki and then Quartet is my personal recommendation. Supplement with the Dictionaries of Beginner and Intermediate Grammar.

To practice my Japanese I tried to write a short text. Any form of corrections and feedback are welcome.

こんにちは、こんばんは。みんな元気ですか。今日は、特別なお店について話したいと思います。 私の家から歩きで15分まで、小さなお店があります。このお店では新鮮な果物と野菜が売られるのでとっても便利だと思います。野菜と果物について質問があれば、いつもお店員さんを聞くことが可能です。店員さんは本当に親切だと思います。 ​ 私はこの店でほとんど毎日買い物しに行きます。料理のために色々な野菜を必要したので、今日もこのお店で買い物しました。タマネギ・ネギ・トマト・ナス・キュウリ・ショウガ、これ５つの野菜を買いました。果物と言いうのは今日、買いませんでした。 ​ 野菜と帰ってきて、料理を始めた。野菜と牛肉とうどんを使ってアジアスタイルな料理をしました。とっても美味しかったと思いました。
