hi! I’m in [Kansai](https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g298566-d1084477-Reviews-Hotel_Kansai-Osaka_Osaka_Prefecture_Kinki.html) region now and loving the autumn colors. The timing is great right now. My plans to depart [Japan](https://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g294232-Japan-Vacations.html) are a little bit flexible right now.. and basically I decided that I’d love to stay here in Kansai region until the autumn colors are finished for 2022.
Being from a tropical country.. I really can’t estimate how long the colors will last. Can someone who lives in [Osaka](https://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g298566-Osaka_Osaka_Prefecture_Kinki-Vacations.html) area give me some idea about it?
Right now the colors are nice in the mountain areas.. and I guess soon will be “peak” time for Osaka.. the official forecast says December 2 for red colors in Osaka.
So until what date in December would the red/yellow colors still be beautiful in Osaka if you were to guess? By December 8 will it be finished? Or later than that? December 12?
I’m really curious about this.. as I enjoy visiting parks and seeing colors.. and I want to plan to leave Japan basically when the colors are finished.. or at least when the “peak” is finished.

That actually depends on the actual weather – once the leaves turn red, it’s basically 7-10 days or until the first major weather front.
Usually I visit December/ Jan and still see amazing autumn colours in to early Jan
