Possible misunderstanding at メガネスーパー because of my poor Japanese

I recently had an eye test at megane super and after trying on the glasses in the shop (very limited range)I decided that I didn’t like any of them and would look elsewhere. (My prescription hadn’t changed that much so it wasn’t really urgent) So I just bought some contact lenses and made the polite excuse that I would rather come another time with my bf so he can help me pick some because I “couldn’t decide”.
I bought the contact lenses and they waved me off as I drove away.
When I got home I remembered being shown a price for what I think was the eye test before I had it but I haven’t paid anything.. Do you only pay for the eye test if you don’t buy any contacts/glasses in Japan? Are they expecting me to go back at some point and pay for the eye test and choose some glasses? I was very muddled, tired and overwhelmed after spending 3 hours there and didn’t think to mention the eye test cost before I left…
Has anyone else had an eye test at megane super and did you pay for the test when you bought the glasses?

  1. Afaik all eye tests are free in all eyeglass chains if you buy glasses/contacts unless you got an extra service package or did it at an eye doctor (eye city makes you do this).

  2. Usually basic eye tests are free.

Maybe the price options were for more comprehensive eye health exams, e.g., when they dilate your pupils to thoroughly examine your retinas, check your pupil function, look for color vision deficiencies, etc.

I.e., more than just checking for prescription strength and maybe some other basic tests.

  3. When I buy eyeglasses I just pay for the glasses. When I buy a new round of disposable lenses I don’t pay for the basic vision test but I do pay for the required eye exam by the resident ophthalmologist, which is mostly covered by health insurance. If you bought contacts from a megane shop I’m guessing you already had a prescription for them.
