Sept2023 (5 days @ Japan) itinerary check/suggestions please ☺️

Hi, will be traveling to JPN next year by Sept. 2023. Will be heading back and forth by Narita Airport. First 3 days in Osaka and last 2 days at Tokyo. Also planning to avail a JR PASS (is it worth it for our itinerary?) Looking for suggestions and advice it’s our first time in JPN.

TENTATIVE JAPAN ITINERARY 🇯🇵
Sept11 – OSAKA
(arrives @ narita by 11:45am)
Narita airport to osaka
(check-in @ hyatt regency osaka)
Osaka castle
Dohtonbori

Sept12 – OSAKA
Universal Studios Japan

Sept13 – KYOTO
Arashiyama Bamboo Forest
Fushimi Inari Shrine
Higashiyama District & Starbucks Ninenzaka
(leave osaka by 12mn via sunrise express to tokyo)

Sept 14 – TOKYO
(arrives @tokyostn. by 7am/ leave luggage @ asakusa)
Yellow Blaze Tattoo (yokohama)
Shibuya crossing & Hachiko statue
Meiji Shrine & Harajuku (takeshita st.)

Sept15 – TOKYO
Akihabara @ GiGo Akihabara 3
Sensoji temple
Don Quijote asakusa
(leaving narita by 9:30pm)

  1. For that short, I would only visit Tokyo only or fly round trip to Osaka and do Osaka/Kyoto only, you would also save on the 30 000 yen for the Shinkansen.

  2. You probably won’t need a rail pass, you would just break even at best. Maybe you might like it for convenience.

    September 13th looks impossibly packed. Kyoto is much bigger and harder to get around in than you think. If I had only 4 days I would spend it only one area. Pick either Tokyo or Kyoto/Osaka. You might be able to spend that last morning in Tokyo if you choose Osaka/Kyoto, but I would put that first Tokyo day as a second day in Kyoto. You can stay in Osaka and do day trips so you won’t have to change hotels.

    If you choose to stay in Tokyo only you can take a day trip to Kamakura/Enoshima to see some historical shrines and the famous Buddha there.
